Director of Technology

The Director of Technology oversees TNM’s technological infrastructure and ensures that the organization’s digital tools, systems, and platforms are secure, efficient, and scalable. This role manages TNM’s websites, databases, communication tools, and other technology resources, supporting the organization’s growth and operational needs. The Director of Technology plays a key role in optimizing digital engagement, ensuring that TNM can effectively connect with members, the public, and lawmakers through online platforms. This position also manages a team composed of volunteers, staff, and contractors, ensuring seamless coordination and execution of TNM’s digital strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of TNM’s Digital Infrastructure: Maintain and optimize all of TNM’s digital platforms, including websites, membership databases, and online communication tools, ensuring smooth operation of TNM’s online presence.
  • Cybersecurity and Data Protection: Implement security protocols to protect member information, financial data, and internal communications from cyber threats.
  • Support for Digital Campaigns: Provide technical support for digital campaigns, including website management, social media, email systems, and online membership drives.
  • Managing Online Advocacy Tools: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of tools that allow TNM members to engage with lawmakers and participate in advocacy campaigns.
  • Technical Support for Staff, Volunteers, and Contractors: Provide technical assistance and training to TNM’s diverse team, including staff, volunteers, and contractors, ensuring everyone has access to the tools needed to fulfill their roles.
  • Coordination of Technology Team: Manage a department that includes volunteers, staff, and contractors, ensuring clear communication, delegation of tasks, and efficient collaboration to achieve TNM’s digital goals.
  • Data Analytics and Reporting: Manage data collection and analysis efforts, generating reports on membership trends, website traffic, and campaign performance.
  • Maintaining Communication Platforms: Ensure that TNM’s email systems, messaging platforms, and video conferencing tools function efficiently and support TNM’s broader digital strategy.

The Director of Technology empowers TNM to scale its grassroots efforts, conduct powerful digital advocacy campaigns, and foster public awareness through online platforms. Moreover, by leading a diverse team of volunteers, staff, and contractors, this role ensures that all digital initiatives are aligned with TNM’s strategic objectives, ultimately supporting the organization’s vision for a free and independent Texas. The Director’s work in cybersecurity, data protection, and online advocacy also strengthens TNM’s ability to maintain trust and engagement across its growing membership base.

Estimated Time Requirements

  • 10-15 hours per week for routine management, updates, and cybersecurity monitoring.
  • Additional time during key campaigns, online events, or membership drives.
  • Time spent coordinating with and managing a team of volunteers, staff, and contractors, including training and task delegation.
  • Availability for periodic training sessions and tech support requests from staff and volunteers.

Skills/Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Expertise in managing digital infrastructure, including website and database administration.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and data protection methods.
  • Experience with CRM systems, email platforms, and other digital communication tools.
  • Ability to provide technical support and training to non-technical staff, volunteers, and contractors.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience leading teams, particularly in a volunteer or mixed workforce environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with advocacy platforms or grassroots digital engagement tools.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools.
  • Previous experience in a nonprofit, grassroots organization, or managing a team with a mix of volunteers and contractors.
